A Free Fall and Fill the Basket!

Greetings, to each of you! I apologize if you have looked for a Blog post from me and haven’t seen it over these past weeks. I have so many thoughts and ideas to write about and simply need clarification before I write. I have found inspiration and clarification, so here is my latest post.

Much has occurred in the past couple of weeks that may have gotten our attention. The change of leadership in the U.S.  House of Representatives and of course the invasion of Israel by Hamas (the terrorist group that has ruled the Gaza since 2007) this past Shabbat. I don’t want to offend any of you, but somehow, we need to understand that supporting Israel for Spiritual reasons as well as geo-political reasons is a wise thing. I cannot go into this in depth, but for me as a Christian, it is easy to support Israel and pray for the peace of Jerusalem. As a citizen of the United States, I know that I can see Israel and the United States having strong bonds and knowing that certainly not perfect, Israel plays an important role in peace and many other things in the world.

For me the politics of everything going on is second to what I am paying attention to in the Spiritual realm as a Christian. nonetheless, good government is so important for people to have freedom to live lives without unnecessary government intrusion. – Note, The Declaration of Independence of 1776 and the U.S. Constitution which were both influenced heavily by Judeo-Christian/biblical principles. Much to say about all that, but if you have followed some of my podcasts and my blogs you have heard a lot about those two documents, the Bible and the God of the Bible that goes by the Name of JESUS.

Below is a quote that I wrote about the U.S. House of Representatives of which I was in the employ of in the 1990’s.

“The U.S. House of Representatives is the closest to the people. These Reps are elected every two years and supposed to be watching the purse strings and control spending and making sure monies are spent in accordance with the U.S. Constitution. What is that? What is the Constitution? It is a powerful document! If we the people would focus on right being right and wrong being wrong and wasted dollars an offense to the American people, we would be much better off.”

– Dr. Jim Johnson –

Our country has been in a free fall Spiritually, politically, economically, educationally and culturally in general including entertainment, sports even our healthcare and the field of medicine and big pharma which seems to be everywhere with all the answers, but not really. Our media in general has decided to be biased to everything we have been taught is good and right – and with the freedom they get from the 1st Amendment to the Constitution – they rob the general population of our country of truth and fairness in reporting…a sort of Pravda mindset. Pravda was the primary newspaper of the Soviet Union…get the picture?

When your country is in a free fall (that is when an object’s only force pulling against it is gravity/or a negative force – pulling it down to an ultimate crash), everyone who loves Jesus, should stand tall and strong to oppose the force that is causing that free fall.  Engraved in the Statue of Liberty is a quote of which the first part is:

“Give me your tired your poor, your huddled masses yearning to be free…”

What a great place, of course with problems stemming from the humanness of its residence. Nonetheless, with the singular but powerful help of the Eternal One, the God of the Bible -involved, it is a remarkably wonderful place to reside. Where the expression of our talents, gifts and the privilege of having families protected by the rule of law; and the great honor and blessing of being able to have personal property rights and so much more make it like nowhere else in the world. Tragically it seems that many of our “elite citizens” have joined the ranks of our “elite enemies” to oppose all we have which is good and propose better plans where they are in control. They seem to have it mixed up! We the people are in charge, and we should act like it. How? By doing what is right.  Another quote:

“Liberty cannot be established without morality, nor morality without Faith.”  Alexis de Tocqueville –

I want to close with some thoughts about ‘fill the basket.’ Recently I was watching a friend of mine via You Tube, (he recently passed away). A marvelous person and preacher who had pastored in Austin, Texas for over 50 years. I came to know him as my wife, and I with our first son moved to Austin in 1976 and stayed for one- and one-half years. I wanted to learn from him, and I did – his message that I recently watched was powerful and made sense – I want to share it with you.

There was a missionary family in Columbia back in the 50’s and 60’s who was seeing good results with people coming to know Jesus. The wife in this family was not feeling like all that could happen for and by Jesus, the winning of souls, healings and His many Blessings of abundant life being manifest! After much talking to Jesus over a period of days something incredible occurred. She had a dream in which she saw a large basket. She heard the voice of God say to her that she and her family were asking for many good things to occur and that He had heard them. But, to see the results that she and her family had requested they were going to have to fill the basket full of Praise to Him! Look through your Bible and see what is said about Praise to Jesus! Psalms 145 through 150 are all about Praise to Him! Praise includes thanksgiving! Philippians 4:4-7 shows us to pray and ask but then to give thanks, vs. 4 begins with Rejoice! Surely ask for what you need for yourself, family and others including your country, read II Chronicles 7:14. He gives instructions to humble yourself, pray and seek His Face and turn from your wicked ways – THEN He will hear from heaven and will forgive your sin and heal your land. When we do what He says to do including ask, He then begins to do His part and deserves Praise – we will Praise Him because He is Majestic, Great and Greatly to be Praised! Your Faith should rise up and you should Praise Him – even though you may not see what you prayed for immediately – don’t lose Faith! He does things differently than we would do them, not always, but often. But if you don’t stop Praising and Thanking Him for what He has done and is doing until the basket is full – you will see His great work accomplished. So, be like that missionary. Things began to happen. Great and Mighty things. Praise Him until the basket is full and then you will see how great He is and how a full basket equals prayers being answered.

Thanks for reading my blog! I am honored that you take the time and I hope you are Blessed and Encouraged!

Dr. Jim
