Hearing and Doing in 2023 – April 19, 2023

Well, it has certainly been a while since I wrote a blog post. I can only tell you that I wanted to, but simply had so much on my mind and in my heart that I did not know what to say first. Have you ever felt that way? In addition, I want to make sure my posts extend faith and hope in the good things around us; with the knowledge that evil is very present and all around us and obvious to those who have eyes to see and ears to hear.

My wife and I went to a restaurant the other day and saw the families, moms and dads with their children. I put what I saw there in the reality of what is occurring in our society in regard to gender affirming policies/child molestation and how those parents may feel about what is going on in our public schools in this regard. That here in Michigan for example that parents have no control over a young person and can be very young who may want to change their gender and able to do so without parent involvement. Yep, so much going on yet so many people think this type of thing is not occurring, it is. Children are pawns of perverted teachers and administrators (some not all, but way too many). I am sure private schools are doing the same thing. Why? Whatever happened to there are both males and females – yep, only two genders. How could we be so blind and permissive as parents and grandparents to fall for these lies as our public schools (supported by tax dollars) have become government (controlled by government that is supposed to be for and by the people) schools. Stalin, Lenon, Marx, Castro, and on and on would have loved what is going on right now in America and Canada and around the world in this regard.

What happened to a country that protected children both in and out of the womb? How did people begin to look at being pregnant as a disease and abortion as health care – how did that happen? I think I have an answer. If you have had any Christian instruction which includes The Bible as the primary textbook, you, like me should have been able to see the difference between right and wrong and how we should live our lives. Not a small thing when considering when you look around and see the mayhem. People who came here to this new land we now call the USA for religious freedom experienced good and evil in their lives. But in the vast majority of cases, they had already decided that there was a God of the Bible and He was wise – since He created everything and knew everything, He would be the one to follow. Following an all-powerful, dominating anti-moral government, hadn’t worked. Good government that is moral and just and has a basis for its existence such as the teaching of the Bible is good.

Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin who were probably the two least ‘religious of our founding fathers, respected and saw the importance of the Bible. Its teachings were moral, upright and they knew that good government could only exist with moral people in charge. Citizens had to be moral as well so as to keep order and offer opportunity for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. There have to be moral standards for us to live by if we want peace and freedom and all they bring to us as God’s Creation.

I am going to write a lot more in the next few days – so get ready. We are going to talk about some other things that are occurring. I have had the privilege to speak at length some of those who are involved in public policy formation and have really good insight into what is going on in our country at the local, county, state and federal levels of our government. I have also been blessed to speak with a couple of influential leaders in their own right who have international experience. So, I will be back.

In closing, I use a quote from Dietrich Bonhoeffer a Lutheran pastor who resisted the evil of Hitler from 1933 until his hanging by the Nazis on April 9, 1945. He attempted to get the German Church to see the evil ahead of them and encourage the people of Germany to resist the evil, think of others who would surely die at the hands of Hitler and his associates. He believed in this God of the Bible, the One we know as the Lord Jesus Christ. He wanted people to see so much more than the hope of a new Germany – but rather he knew that the real new Germany would have to come to the Eternal God of the Bible to get well and have good government instituted.

The Quote: Do not try to make the Bible relevant. Its relevance is axiomatic (self evident or unquestionable) my emphasis…Do not defend God’s Word but testify to it…Trust to the Word.  –Dietrich Bonhoeffer-

Hear and do what you know is right based on Truth! Mere men and women who pretend to be gods are not to be listened to.  Do what Bonhoeffer said…Trust to the Word!  John 17:17 tells us, His (the God of the Bible) Word is Truth…

Blessings,

Dr. Jim
